Catholic Women’s League
Founded in 1906 by Margaret Fletcher, the CWL has as its Patron Saint Margaret Clitherow. Cambridge Section was started in 1912, and now meets in Saint Laurence’s Parish Room on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm.
The League’s mission since its formation has been to educate and encourage Catholic women to play a role in the work of the church at parish, diocesan, national and international levels. They are concerned with social issues such as the plight of asylum seekers, ecumenism, bio-ethics and women’s role in society.
